Diversity is a valuable asset, but is also true it can cause discomfort, conflict and even chaos at home and work.
A Diversity Management Plan shall highlight comprehensive strategies for organizations focusing on workforce diversity, workplace inclusion, and organization accountability and leadership. It is part of an initiative to promote diversity and inclusion in the federal and private sector workforce.
The comprehensive plan is not complete without an Emotional Intelligence component. Emotional Intelligence is a set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.
Emotional Intelligence skills could be deliver in terms of assessments, training, coaching and mediation. Those delivery channels could be mix and customized based on the needs of the organization. The main purpose is increase the emotional intelligence skills in employees and employer (managers, supervisors and executives).
The integration of emotional intelligence in the diversity plan will contribute to the reduction of discrimination, harassment and retaliation cases, as well as absenteeism and lack of productivity.
