From Chemist to Energy Medicine Practitioner: An Amazing Transformation

Every object that we can touch is made up of molecules. From an organic perspective, all bacteria, pathogens, plants, animals, bugs, and humans consists of molecules & cells that form these objects.

Each cell contains various cellular organelles. The Mitochondria is one of many organelles and it is the cell's "powerhouse". Every cell in our body contains at least one of these mitochondria, some cells contain thousands.

Mitochondria are often referred to as the powerhouses of the cells. They generate the energy that our cells need to do their jobs. For example, brain cells need a lot of energy to be able to communicate with each other and also to communicate with parts of the body that may be far away, to do this substances need to be transported along the cells, which needs lots of energy. Muscle fibres also need a lot of energy to help us to move, maintain our posture and lift objects.

Mitochondria generate chemical energy, similar to the type of energy you get from a battery. The energy made by the mitochondria is in the form of a chemical called adenosine triphosphate or ATP for short. ATP is an energy currency that every cell in our body can use and it keeps us alive. The machinery that the mitochondria use to make ATP is called the electron transport chain. This chain is made up of 4 complexes which are groups of proteins that work together to carry out their function, the 5th complex is responsible for the final step of the energy generation. It is found in the inner mitochondrial membrane and parts of the first, third, fourth and fifth complexes are coded for by the mitochondrial DNA. In order for energy to be generated several steps have to occur.

Now, lets pause here briefly and think about this. EVERY CELL IN OUR BODY CONTAINS AT LEAST ONE MITOCHONDRIA THAT IS PRODUCING ENERGY. Depending on your source of information, there are approximately 50 to 75 TRILLION cells in the human body. That's a lot of energy being produced collectively, in one human body.

So what happens with all this energy?

ots of things, and this is where energy medicine finally starts to take shape. We (all living things) emanate an electromagnetic field as a result of all of the energy that our bodies are producing. Therefore, life as we experience it, is a direct result of the energy being produced within us. LIFE IS ENERGY. Without energy there is no life. Our physical bodies are an extension of our subtle energy system (subtle because it is not easily or readily perceived by the masses).

This electromagnetic field that we all produce and emanate from our bodies, is more commonly called our "aura". Kirlian photography can actually photograph our auras. There are many people that can actually see or feel the outer boundary of another person's auric field (this is especially true of body workers & energy workers).

So lets now ask some questions, What happens to our energy system after a traumatic experience, an emotional upset, or illness? Our energy system is usually impacted in a negative way. This typically manifests as a reduction in the overall flow of energy throughout our body.

What happens when the energy flow of our body is blocked or becomes stagnated? We begin to feel the physical manifestations of a reduction in our energetic flow. Some of the symptoms can consist of feeling out of sorts, feeling more tired than usual, depression, anxiety and any combination of illness or disease.

What can be done to restore the flow of energy throughout our body so that we are once again performing at our peak state of wellness? There are MANY options here. Many people practice yoga, Tai Chi or meditation to keep their energetic bodies in a state of balance and flow. These and other practices are great for maintaining our energetic homeostasis. But, what can we do when our energetic flow has already become impeded or depleted? Practice ENERGY MEDICINE or find an energy worker that can work with you to restore your energetic flow.

Energy Medicine takes into consideration that energy is a vital, living, moving force that is integral to our health, wellness, and happiness. In Energy Medicine, the focus is on energy being the medicine, and energy being the patient. The medicine and patient are the same.

Energy Medicine stimulates the body, mind and spirit to heal in a natural and balanced way. When Energy healing occurs many levels of the body are affected and healing can proceed in a healthy and supportive way. There are no pharmaceuticals or procedures used to lessen or mask the physical manifestations of illness. Energy Medicine is a holistic approach that addresses the needs of the body, mind and spirit.

There are many many forms of energetic medicine. To name a few: Ayurveda, Chakra Balancing, Homeopathy, Reflexology, Reiki, Aromatherapy, Shamballa, and Chiropractic care. The list really does go on. Energetic medicine is the practice of medicine using energy or rather the flow of energy as a medium for healing. It is based on the biophysics of the body whereas Allopathic Medicine is, for the most part, based on biochemistry through the use of pharmaceuticals and procedures. The emphasis is on manipulating the physical body, while the mind and spirit are very rarely addressed as part of the healing process.
